PAIA MANUAL For DNA Test (In Compliance with the Promotion of Access to Information Act, No. 2 of 2000)

1. Introduction

This manual is published in accordance with Section 51 of PAIA to facilitate access to records held by DNA Test, while ensuring the protection of sensitive personal information, including genetic data, under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

1.1 Purpose

• Outline procedures for requesting access to records held by DNA Test.
• Specify grounds for refusal (e.g., protection of third-party genetic data).
• Designate the Information Officer and contact details.

1.2 Scope

• Applies to all records held by DNA Test, including:
Client test records.
DNA sample processing logs.
Contracts with the USA laboratory.
Internal compliance reports.
• Excludes records protected under POPIA or other legislation (e.g., confidential genetic data)
