Group I originating 30,000 years ago is found in Mediterranean regions (in both Arabian and European centers), Group Q are descendants of the southern pacific regions (in particular New Guinea and Melanesia), Group J is found prominently in Russia and eastern Europe. It was born roughly 10,000 years ago, in - or near - Mesopotamia, and migrated into Europe.

There are over 20 different groups, and many of those are further divided to subgroups, allowing us to give more detail on your ancestral history. This test can be taken by both Men and Women.

When a child is born, a sperm from the father and an egg from the mother join together. The female egg contains special packets of DNA (mitochondrial DNA).
